The two-flap closure is secured by means of metal snap fasteners. There is a small pocket on the front of the cover for carrying water purification tablets. The lid of this small pocket is secured by means of hook and pile fastener tape. The canteen cover is attached to the equipment belt with LC-2 slide keepers. The water canteen cover is designed to carry the USGI 1 Quart Canteen which is included in this listing. It can also hold the Canteen Cup. The cover with it’s LC-1 / LC-2 slide keepers was designed to attach to the ALICE LC-1 / LC-2 Equipment Belts (sold separately in my eBay store) link further below, however they can attach to any MOLLE compatible panel. The Genuine US Military 1 Quart Canteen Cup is made of heavy gauge stainless steel. These cups are highly durable and can last a lifetime. The two steel wire handles known as “butterfly” or “wing” handles open out for use, lock in place, and fold flat against the side of the cup for storage. It is part of a Service member’s field kit and is used for drinking cold or hot liquids such as coffee, from or eating stews, chili, freeze dried camp meals (just add hot water) or soup. Used for cooking / boiling water / heating packaged rations over a flame or folding stove. It holds the one-quart plastic canteen inside the cup, which fits in the Canteen Carrier.
