Why do we use braided line? We tested monofilament for over 6 months. Braided line is more durable, does not break down as fast due to hot, cold, and U.V. exposure, casts easier, stronger with a smaller diameter, and does not have “memory” like monofilament. Fishing kit tubes are a small diameter. Leaving monofilament on it for any amount of time will create a lot of line memory (think slinky) causing snags, knots, and birds nests. Monofilament is much cheaper allowing for more profit for the seller, but in a true survival situation, you want something long lasting and dependable.The only connection between you and a fish is your line, choose wisely.
